W&E Baum was selected by the New York Police Department to create a wall to memorialize NYPD Mounted Unit Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. W&E Baum’s staff worked closely with the NYPD to insure no detail was overlooked in the creation of this one-of-a kind monument. Triangular etched bronze plaques display the officer’s pictures, descriptive text and a replica of their badges. A 3-foot bas-relief cast bronze horse is the focal point of the display. The bronze horse, shown with an officer’s boot placed backwards in its stirrup, represents a fallen officer looking back on his watch for the last time. Cast bronze crossed sabers and two horse heads add grandeur to the installation. Oxidized brass letters title the wall. A custom oak structure, housing this magnificent memorial, was built to depict the inside of the NYPD stable. W&E Baum’s team traveled to New York City to install the job.
